Sarakina Gorge & South Coast day tour

Explore on a full day trip high up in the Dikti mountains through Kroustas forest. Enjoy exciting off-roading and spectacular views along the way. Head towards the South coast and Sarakina Gorge for even more breathtaking sights.

This tour will take you high into the mountains of the Lassithi range (or Dikti range), offering an abundance of stunning panoramic views. Picking you up from your accommodation at 10am we then start our climb up through several very picturesque traditional villages, one of which we shall stop at for a short break to shop or grab a coffee.

Next we go off road and move on up through Kroustas Forest to a point approx 1000 metres above sea level. From way up here you can see both the Lybian Sea (south coast) & the Aegean Sea (north coast) plus view the stunning peaks of the snow capped Mount Spathi (2,140 metres above sea level, second highest on the island), whose north face is home of the Psychro Cave, birth place of the greek god Zeus.

Words cannot describe the views you will get on this tour, seeing is believing and you won't be dissapointed, for views this can't be beaten and there will be plenty of opportunities to stop for photographs. Whilst in the mountains we will take you to a traditional Greek taverna for a meze lunch with local wine.

Following lunch we move towards the south coast stopping at the entrance and walking in to the spectacular Sarakina Gorge where you'll have the chance to take yet more spectacular photographs. Then it's down to the south coast to a delightful fishing village where we shall stop to explore, swim and take advantage of the beautiful beach, so remember to bring swimwear.

En route home we head back up into the mountains taking in several more picturesque villages with a little more off roading thrown in.This tour contains many outstanding views therefore there are a number of specially selected stopping points en route but the driver will be happy to stop anywhere you choose provided it's safe to do so.
